Iyanya has revealed how he hit the lowest of his career in 2021.
In a series of confessions on the internet, Iyanya publicly reflected on his career in 2021. The singer narrated how he begged to perform at shows in December, 2021. He wrote:
Last year December, 2021, I performed at 3 shows, one paid and I begged to perform at 2 just to be seen.
2022 December, I wake up everyday to alerts for shows; haven’t had this kind of busy December since 2017. 20+ shows in one month. God, thank you!
Iyanya owes his return to the top of his game to Davido whom he claimed helped him back to limelight on the song Like featuring Kizz Daniel and Davido, off Iyanya’s 2022 album, The 6th Wave. Acknowledging Davido’s expression of love to him, he wrote:
Special appreciation to @davido. Thank you for the push this year!
Iyanya went further to thank Kizz Daniel for gifting him the song, Like. Ayra Starr, Don Jazzy as well as Ubi Franklin are other celebrities thanked by Iyanya for assisting him in 2022.
Iyanya’s Like with Davido and Kizz Daniel was followed by One Side, a single that was even more viral than the former, off the album. Since Iyanya released One Side, one of the best Afrobeats songs in 2022, there has been a significant acceptance for Iyanya. Notably, One Side visuals has amassed 8 million views on YouTube since its release.
