Don Jazzy reveals 3 things he considers before signing artistes

Don Jazzy, the founder of the Dynasty, generally known as Mavin Records, has listed the things he looks out for before signing artistes.

In an interview he granted recently, Don Jazzy revealed he looks out for talents in an artiste before he decides whether or not to sign him. However, the music director claims talent is not enough and may not necessarily spur him to sign a singer if that is all such person has got.

Going forward, Don Jazzy stated that he must also consider the artiste’s personality. “For how long will I continue to push an artise?” He questioned in the video. Buttressing this particular point, Don Jazzy clearly stated that an artiste’s social media presence, behavior or how he has been able to market himself matters too. He used Blaqbonez’ self marketing strategy as an example. He also predicted Blaqbonez going far as a result of this creativity, anytime he is opportuned to drop a “dope” song or a hit.

The third would be whether or not the singer is physically attractive. Here, Don Jazzy used Ayra Starr as a case study. The label executive examined how Ayra Starr was able to retain her fans in spite of her late release of a single in 2022. Don Jazzy prioritized the need for physical attraction, or at least, the prospect to be attractive upon grooming. According to him, an artiste needs attraction to sell his music. Even when some fans have always condemned Ayra Starr’s skimpy dresses, Don Jazzy referenced Ayra Starr’s pictures as a method of attracting fans and how fans easily crush on attractive singers.
