Why President Buhari conferred Burna Boy, Teni and 2Baba with National Honours Awards

The four of Burna Boy, Teni, 2Baba and legendary Fuji musician, K1 D Ultimate, were recently conferred with the National Honours Awards in Abuja.

The aforementioned artistes were honored on Tuesday morning, 11th October, 2022. Each of them was presented the Honours by the Nigerian Head of State and Government, President Mohammadu Buhari.

However, Teni appeared to be the only recipient to attend the National Honours ceremony, and thereby, being the only one who received the award directly. Burna Boy’s Honours was specifically received by his father at the event that took place at the International Conference Center, in the capital city of Nigeria.

Burna Boy was conferred with an MFR (Member of the Order of the Federal Republic) for being the first ever Nigerian to win the Grammys with his own works. 2Baba was honored with an MON too just like Teni who was handed an MON (Member of the Order of the Niger) for her recent visit to her alma mater in Lagos.

Teni had visited Apata Memorial High School in Lagos where she presented her Mathematics teacher, Mr. Kelvin Ofudje a brand new car in celebration of the 2022 World Teachers’ Day.
